During the 2010 earthquake, the Church suffered considerable structural damage, as a result of the earthquake, the longitudinal wall collapsed causing the roof, with its beams and false ceiling, to fall in the middle of the central nave of the temple. The restoration of this monument considers the rescue of the sky, the structural reinforcement through the insertion of buttresses of the north and south walls of the roof and ceiling of the central nave, the restitution of the lateral corridors and the integral repair of the bell tower.

The work is located on the site where the Santiago Severin building was located, which was built at the beginning of the 20th century and was destroyed by a fire in 2004. On the land there are masonry walls of important dimensions and openings that form windows with arch-shaped upper lintel.
